Signature Types
Aflux supports four signature methods so every signer can choose the approach that suits them best.- Typed
- Drawn
- Uploaded
The signer types their full name and Aflux renders it in a signature-style font. This is the fastest option and requires no drawing or file upload. Typed signatures are legally equivalent to drawn signatures under eIDAS and most international electronic signature laws. How it works: the signer clicks the signature field, types their name, optionally selects a font style, and clicks Apply.
Qualified Electronic Signatures (QES) — the highest level under eIDAS, requiring identity verification via a digital certificate — are available on Business and Enterprise plans only. QES is required for certain regulated industries and high-value contracts in the EU. Contact support@aflux.io for certificate provider options.
Multi-Signer Workflows
When a document requires more than one signer, Aflux gives you precise control over who signs in what order and under what conditions.Sequential Signing
Signers receive the document one at a time in a defined order. Signer 2 is only notified after Signer 1 completes. Ideal for approval chains and hierarchical sign-offs.
Parallel Signing
All signers receive the document simultaneously and can sign in any order. The document completes as soon as the final signer finishes. Best for peer agreements and multi-party contracts.
Conditional Routing
Advance the document to different signers depending on field values filled in by earlier signers. Build dynamic approval flows without manual intervention.
Document Templates
Reusable templates save time when you send the same document structure repeatedly — employment contracts, NDAs, order forms, and so on.- Drag-and-drop field placement: position signature, initial, date, checkbox, and freetext fields anywhere on the PDF canvas.
- Auto-fill: map template fields to contact data so recipient details are pre-populated when you create a new request from the template.
- Field validation: mark fields as required or optional, set character limits, and restrict date fields to past or future dates.
- Role-based placeholders: define generic roles (e.g. “Employee”, “Manager”) in the template and assign real people when you send each request.
Audit Trail
Every signature request generates an immutable audit trail stored alongside the completed document.Timestamped Events
Every action — document sent, viewed, field filled, signature applied, document completed or declined — is logged with a UTC timestamp accurate to the second.
IP & Device Tracking
Each event records the signer’s IP address, browser, and device type, providing evidence of who accessed the document and from where.
Authentication Log
If you require email OTP or SMS verification before signing, those authentication events appear in the trail alongside the signature events.
Certificate of Completion
When all signers have signed, Aflux generates a tamper-evident PDF certificate of completion that embeds the full audit trail and can be submitted as legal evidence.
Mobile Signing
Signers don’t need to install anything. The Aflux signing experience is a responsive web page that opens directly from the email link.- No app required: works in any modern mobile browser — Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Samsung Internet.
- Touch-optimised drawing: the drawn signature canvas expands to full screen on small devices so signers can write naturally with their finger.
- Auto-scroll to fields: the interface guides each signer through every required field in sequence, so no fields are accidentally missed.
Security
256-Bit Encryption
All documents are encrypted at rest using AES-256 and in transit using TLS 1.3. Signing keys are managed in a dedicated key management service.
GDPR Compliant
Aflux is built by an EU company and processes all signature data on EU infrastructure. Data processing agreements are available for Business and Enterprise customers.
SOC 2 Certified
Aflux’s infrastructure and operational controls are independently audited and certified to SOC 2 Type II, giving your organisation a verifiable security baseline.

How to Request a Signature
1
Go to E-Signature → New Request
Open the Aflux dashboard and click E-Signature in the left sidebar. Then click New Request in the top-right corner.
2
Upload your PDF or choose a template
Drag your PDF onto the upload area or click Browse to select it from your device or connected cloud storage. To reuse a configured layout, click Use Template and select from your saved templates.
3
Place signature, initial, date, and text fields
The PDF opens in the field-placement editor. Drag field types from the right panel — Signature, Initials, Date, Text, Checkbox — onto the pages where you need them. Resize and reposition each field by dragging its handles.
4
Add signers — enter names and email addresses
Click Add Signer and enter each person’s name and email address. Assign each field on the document to the appropriate signer using the signer colour-coding in the editor.
5
Set signing order (sequential or parallel)
In the Signing Order panel, drag signers into your preferred order for sequential signing, or toggle Parallel to notify all signers at the same time. Add a personalised message for each signer if needed.
6
Click Send — signers receive a secure email link
Review the summary and click Send Request. Each signer receives an email with a unique, tamper-proof link to their signing session. No account creation is required on their end.
7
Track progress; download the completed document
Return to the E-Signature dashboard at any time to see which signers have completed their step and which are pending. Once all parties have signed, the completed PDF and certificate of completion are available to download from the request detail page.
